The Gospel of Jesus Christ
The word gospel means good news. But to truly appreciate the good news, we must first understand the bad news. Explore the four accounts of Jesus's life, then walk through a Law-based Gospel presentation.
The Four Gospels
Matthew
Written to a Jewish audience, Matthew presents Jesus as the promised Messiah and King. Contains the Sermon on the Mount — the most famous moral teaching in history.
Mark
The shortest, most fast-paced gospel. Written for Roman readers, Mark presents Jesus as a powerful Servant acting with urgency. The perfect starting point for first-time readers.
Luke
A physician's careful account for Greek-speaking Gentiles. Luke emphasises Jesus's compassion for the poor and outcasts. Includes the parables of the Lost Son and Good Samaritan.
John
The most theological gospel, written so that you may believe Jesus is the Son of God and have eternal life. Contains the seven "I AM" statements and the beloved John 3:16.
Are You a Good Person?
Ray Comfort's Law-based Gospel presentation — rooted in how Jesus evangelised in Mark 10 and Luke 18. God's Law acts as a mirror, showing us our true condition before God so we can appreciate the cross.
Would you consider yourself a good person?
Most people say yes — and that's exactly where we need to start. Let's check your answer against God's own standard.
Do you think you've kept the Ten Commandments?
Let's look at just five of them honestly:
- Have you ever told a lie? Even one lie makes you a liar by God's standard.
- Have you ever stolen anything? Regardless of its value — that makes you a thief.
- Have you ever used God's name as a swear word? That is called blasphemy.
- "Anyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery in his heart." — Jesus, Matthew 5:28
- Have you ever hated someone? The Bible says hatred is murder in God's sight (1 John 3:15).
Judgment: If God judged you by the Ten Commandments, would you be innocent or guilty?
By your own admission — having lied, stolen, blasphemed, and lusted — you would be guilty. And so would every one of us.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23
Destiny: Based on that, would you go to Heaven or Hell?
God is perfectly just and must punish sin. The Bible says the wages of sin is death — eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23). That's serious. But there is very good news...
The Good News — Grace Through the Cross
God loves you so much that He did something extraordinary. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a sinless life and then take the full punishment you deserved.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16
Jesus died on the cross, bearing the penalty for sin. He rose from the dead three days later, conquering death itself. The debt is paid.
What must you do? Repent — genuinely turn away from sin — and trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. Not good works. Not religion. In Him alone.
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." — Romans 10:9
